SUMMARY:Civilization-Building Intelligence: Preparing Humans for Life Beyond Earth
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\nWhat does it mean to live through a civilizational shift? It means the old frameworks no longer hold. The perspectives that served us on one planet fail in the in-between. The question is no longer what we can build\, but what we must become. Machines can originate—GenAI proves this daily. But origination in isolation is only half the story. The full power emerges when humans and machines create together. Human intuition plus machine exploration. Human meaning-making plus machine pattern-finding. This is co-creation. To choose this path\, we must build the creative\, innovative part of the human being. Creativity must be exercised and encouraged—not outsourced to machines\, but brought into partnership with them. I am not a doctor. I do not have a traditional career in robotics. But I grew up with robots—my father bought me one every year. That lived relationship taught me something no degree can: how to be with machines\, not just use them. The future needs many ways of knowing. \nFrom this way of knowing\, new human capacities emerge: \n\n● Co-creation with intelligent systems \n● Partnership across species of intelligence \n● Creativity exercised\, not outsourced \n● Innovation as a daily practice \n\nGerard O’Neill asked in 1969\, “Is a planetary surface really the best place for an expanding technological civilization?” His answer points to the in-between. My work asks the next question: Will we arrive there as co-creators—having exercised our humanity\, partnered with our machines\, and built something neither could build alone? But there is something deeper. Something that comes before all of this. Before we know it\, we feel. This feeling comes before knowledge—a sensing of what is coming\, what matters\, and what calls to us. As technology accelerates and we must adapt faster\, this feeling becomes our compass. Machines cannot feel. They have not caught up to this dimension\, and perhaps they never will. But they can clarify. They can take what we sense but cannot yet name and show us its shape. Then we together grow and build further. Human feeling + machine clarity = co-creation. This is the partnership the future asks of us. Not humans serving machines. Not machines replacing humans. But feeling clarified\, and clarity felt—together. The question is not whether we will live with intelligent machines on the Moon. We will. The question is what kind of humans we will be when we get there—whether we will have remembered that our deepest power lies not in what we know\, but in what we feel. \nA short bio\nVeronica Chiaravalli is the founder\, CEO\, and chief robotics officer (CRO) of Emerging Technologies Sweden / MultiplanetaryX\, where she works at the intersection of pioneering innovation\, emerging technologies\, human-robot interaction (HRI)\, human factors\, and human and socio-technical systems for future off-world civilizations. Her work explores how humans\, AI\, intelligent systems\, and robots can collaborate effectively in isolated\, extreme\, and emerging environments. A certified virtual analog astronaut\, she has completed Mars and lunar analog missions with Habitat Marte. Chiaravalli serves as vice president and board director of The Moon Society and is a member\, volunteer\, and partner of Space Renaissance International (SRI). In 2026\, she presented at the SRI4 World Congress and authored three academic papers developed from her congress abstracts. Her current research and framework development focuses on human–AI–robot collaboration\, Human-Integrated Systems Architecture (HISA)\, off-world socio-technical systems\, Pioneering Innovation\, and Civilization-Building Intelligence (CBI)—the capacities required not merely to survive beyond Earth\, but to build communities capable of learning\, adapting\, achieving Quality of Life\, thriving\, and evolving across generations. \n\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/live/3f6i59ks3XM\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1769018554143646/

SUMMARY:Lunar Astropolitics: Cooperation\, Governance\, Competition\, and Conflict
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\nHumanity’s return to cislunar space and the lunar surface is transforming into a complex political environment. These domains encompass issues of politics\, technology\, power\, competition\, conflict\, and cooperation. Political outcomes will be shaped by the Outer Space Treaty Regime and by the interplay of missions\, material and technological conditions\, infrastructure and operations\, best practices\, principles and codes of conduct that are advanced\, geopolitics\, and national policies and laws. Lunar Astropolitics asks how cooperation\, competition\, and conflict can all exist. No single authority will govern the Moon. Instead\, an assemblage of actors\, politics\, law\, norms\, technical standards\, best practices\, operations\, and consultation processes will all co-produce order. Key factors shaping the rules and values that govern cislunar space and a lunar presence are discussed. Within this context\, institutional architectures that preserve plurality and sustainability are ascertained concerning forms of coordination\, such as protected zones\, equity\, interoperability standards\, commitments to sustainability\, and inclusive consultation bodies. \nA short bio\nEligar (Eli) Sadeh\, Ph.D.\, is an Aerospace Professional since 1982 and The Man Who Wrote the Book on the human relationship to the space enterprise. He is a TEDx speaker\, and CEO and Founder of Astroconsulting International LLC and the non-profit Astropolitics Institute where he engages in technical consulting and educational programming. Eli serves as Chief Editor of the academic journal Astropolitics\, which covers human factors related to the space program. He is a Professor and STEM educator of Aerospace Engineering\, Space Operations\, Program/Project Management\, Business and Entrepreneurship\, Astrophysics\, Physics\, Environmental Studies\, and Astropolitics. Professional experiences include work with NASA\, Lockheed Martin\, SpaceX\, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University\, University of Colorado\, Colorado State University\, U.S. Air Force Academy Eisenhower Center of Space and Defense Studies\, U.S. Air Force Space Command\, University of North Dakota Aerospace Sciences and Space Studies\, International Space University\, and foreign national space agencies and academic institutions. Eli is working to develop expeditionary STEM programs. Eligar’s leadership in aerospace and seminal publications helped revolutionize the way we think about space exploration and the space program. \n\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/live/yACl_0d2myA\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event:  https://www.facebook.com/events/1134040839365432/

SUMMARY:Is the Universe a Dark Forest? - with Adriano V. Autino
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\nFollowing the golden age of science fiction\, the genre spent decades dominated by dystopian narratives that blamed human intelligence and technology for environmental ruin. In this era\, humanity was urged to move to a lower profile after wasting Earth. A shift emerged in the 2010s with authors like James Corey\, Andy Weir\, and Daniel Suarez\, who restored a more balanced dynamic between human initiative and nature’s uncertainties. Concurrently\, a new paradigm arose from the East: Liu Cixin’s “Dark Forest” theory. Expanding on the Fermi Paradox through a paranoid\, game-theoretic lens\, Cixin posits that the universe is a hostile arena where civilizations must hide or strike first to survive. Philosophically\, this view sweeps away benign\, humanistic cosmologies in favor of compulsive risk mitigation. However\, the underlying premise of the dark forest theory remains flawed: it assumes that intelligence inherently drives aggression and malice. The theory overlooks the possibility that higher intelligence—and superintelligence—naturally leans toward cooperation and good\, realizing that in a universe of virtually infinite resources\, more intelligence creates mutual opportunity. Much like eco-dystopian fiction\, the dark forest philosophy implicitly suggests that humanity should regress to a low-tech\, rural existence—not to live in harmony with nature\, but to avoid being perceived as a threat by galactic neighbors. This presentation\, built upon a paper presented at the SRI 4th World Congress in July 2026\, analyzes the cultural flaws of the dark forest theory and proposes literary counter-perspectives. \nShort bios\nAdriano Vittorio Autino\, born in Moncrivello (VC\, Italia)\, is co-founder and former president of the Space Renaissance Initiative\, since 2010 Space Renaissance International (SRI)\, an inter-cultural non-profit association\, whose mission is the opening of the space frontier: low-cost access to space\, space tourism\, industrialization of the geo-lunar space\, use of near-Earth asteroids\, and the full development of the space economy. Adriano is a self-taught space philosopher and author of numerous original concepts regarding space humanism. Adriano has a diploma in industrial electronics\, having acted since 1971 as a software and system engineer\, then as a project manager and entrepreneur in the field of real-time automation systems. His insatiable curiosity and the desire to engage in frontier fields have led him to work in the aerospace environment and to devise and develop an integrated software system\, supporting the systems engineering and project lifecycle management processes. Adriano authored and co-authored several books\, papers\, and articles on the theme of civilization expansion into outer space. \nAlberto Cavallo\, co-author of the mentioned paper\, is an electrical engineer who graduated from the Politecnico di Torino in 1985. He was involved in all business areas of the Fiat Engineering\, the engineering and construction company of the FIAT Group. Since Fiat Engineering was transferred from the FIAT Group to a new EPC group and then merged with a large EPC company in Milan\, he was involved in large oil and gas and petrochemical projects all over the world until his retirement in 2024. Besides his professional activity\, he has always taken part in several cultural activities. He was a member of the Associations of Alumni of the Liceo Classico Vittorio Alfieri of Turin\, active in promoting humanistic culture as well as its connection to the technical and scientific area. He manages his own website\, www.eurinome.it (in Italian only) about philosophy\, science\, and politics/geopolitics. Due to this\, he got in contact with Adriano Autino and his website Technologies of the Frontier (TDF) and then became one of the founding members of Space Renaissance International. Besides several papers in his professional area\, he has written several articles for his own site\, for TDF and SRI\, co-authoring the book “Three Theses for the Space Renaissance” with Adriano Autino and Patrick Q. Collins. He is currently a member of the Board of SRI. \n\n  \nFollow the livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/live/98Lom-uz_IY \nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1683118670083480/

SUMMARY:The Problem of Space Debris and What Can be Done About it - with Alastair Browne
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\nSpace debris has existed ever since Sputnik\, the first satellite launched.  Since then\, the problem has multiplied exponentially\, and we have now reached critical mass\, especially with the growing space movement.  If we\, as a species\, are to venture into space\, we need to deal with the problem of space debris now\, before it is too late. In other words\, we will not be able to venture into space without getting hit by a piece of space junk and suffering extensive damage and loss of life.\nFortunately\, there are solutions to this problem\, and they can be dealt with\, now. As the saying goes\, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”\, and that is how we should treat this problem. Rocket stages\, of which there are thousands\, can be retrieved and set up on the Moon as lunar habitats\, or habitats in space. Obsolete satellites can be salvaged\, and with their components salvaged for recycling\, and there are valuable minerals\, such as computer chips that are too valuable to throw away. Small particles can be caught by orbital ‘netting’ and also salvaged.\nThese are but a few examples of how this space junk/treasure can be salvaged\, thus reducing the danger to presently functioning satellites and spacecraft.\nBest of all\, money can be made by salvaging all this debris. Opportunities are there. Let’s take advantage of it. \nA short bio\nAlastair S Browne is a writer and lives in Durham\, North Carolina.  He is the author of Cosmic Careers\, a book on future jobs in the coming space movement\, and his latest book\, Building the Space Infrastructure\, which is about developing space from Low Earth Orbit to the Lunar surface\, both published internationally.  His other writings include topics pertaining to different problems this world is facing today and how they can be resolved for the benefit of all. He has started a new venture called Storm Browne Enterprises LLC\, putting all his venues under one roof.  You can look up his webpage by clicking stormbrowneenterprisesllc.org. Alastair attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh\, and earned a B.S. degree in Statistics\, and the University of North Dakota\, in Grand Forks\, where he obtained an M.S. degree in Space Studies. Besides his passion for reading books and writing essays\, Alastair likes to play music with friends and likes to travel\, especially in northern regions of the world. \nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/live/qyDayCnBFfs\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1125498686840127/
