SUMMARY:SRIC4 #21: "Perspective of space activities" with Johann-Dietrich Wörner
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #21 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4) \nAbstract\nSince the late fifties of last century space is not any longer just an observed area but a place to go. Through race in space between USSR and USA the development of space flights was very much accelerated. After years of competition and cooperation the number of space faring nations increased. The next step was the establishment of space commercialisation. Today a shift of paradigm of actors\, purpose\, technologies and actions can be observed. In addition a new race in space between USA and China is rapidly developing. What are the future perspectives? What are the future activities? What are the future destinations for space flights? And what is the role of humans in this fast changes. The presentation will highlight the current situation as well as some expectations. \nA short bio\nProf. Dr.-Ing. Johann-Dietrich (Jan) Wörner\, born 1954\, is a Civil Engineer \n1990-1995 professor for civil engineering TU Darmstadt \n1995-2007 president of TU Darmstadt \n2007-2015 Chairman of the executive board of DLR\, German Aerospace Center \n2015-2021 Director General of ESA \n2021-2025 president of Acatech\, the National Academy of Science and Technology \n2025- scientific director of FIAS\, Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies Space coordinator of Hesse and Bavaria Mediator of Frankfurt Airport \nsince 2000 Advisor/board member/Supervisor neuraspace\, Astroscale\, SpaceCargo\, Harmonic Drive \nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/n9jfd3fR9L4\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1288872730086520/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #20: "Use of space resources: Moon\, Asteroids\, Mars\, and beyond" with Paolo Ferri
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #20 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4) \nAbstract\nIn recent years discussion has intensified on potential future use of local resources on solar system bodies. Objectives vary from support to further exploration (e.g. local generation of rocket fuel) to commercial exploitation (e.g. mining for precious minerals). While the perspectives are exciting\, the technology required to achieve these objectives is still rather immature. This talk will discuss the challenges of exploiting local resources on “nearby” targets\, such as the Moon\, asteroids and Mars\, identifying the main milestones to be achieved\, starting from the current status of technology and operational experience. \nA short bio\nPaolo Ferri studied theoretical physics at the University of Pavia. 1984 he joined ESA as astrophysicist at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Germany. 1986 he moved to the field of mission operations\, working on a number of scientific missions. 1996 he became operations manager for Rosetta\, first historical mission to rendezvous with and land on a comet. He led this mission at different levels for 20 years\, until its completion. From 2006 to 2013 he was responsible for the operations of all ESA missions in the Solar System\, and from 2013 to 2020 he was head of ESA’s mission operations department\, responsible for the ground segment and operations of all ESA robotic missions. He is currently active in training\, education and outreach in the field of space operations and space science and technology. He is member of the International Academy of Astronautics and of the British Interplanetary Society. \n\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/live/5WDtnUO10mg\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/809435548526218/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #19: "Space capitalism" with Prof. Giancarlo Genta
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #19 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4)\n Space capitalism – Private companies and states in the new race beyond Earth \nGiancarlo Genta – Professor Emeritus\, Politecnico di Torino\, Italy \nAbstract\nIn the last years\, the number of private actors engaged in space missions has grown\, and their importance has increased. This trend is usually referred to as New Space. While this trend has started with economic activities in LEO and in supplying transportation services to Space Agencies\, now these activities are expanding to deep space (or BLEO: Beyond Low Earth Orbit) and to space exploration with missions designed and implemented by private industries\, and space agencies buying tickets to send their astronauts on exploration missions. The overall advantages of this approach to exploration will be the decrease of costs and times of exploration missions\, which will lead to start a spacefaring civilization without waiting long times. In particular\, the recent statements by Elon Musk\, of SpaceX\, about performing a sample return mission to Mars in the 2028 launch opportunity as a test to proceed with a human mission in 2030 are very interesting. Even if there will be a delay\, the timeframe for Mars human exploration will be greatly reduced. \nA short bio\nGiancarlo Genta obtained degrees in Aeronautical Engineering in 1971 and Aerospace Engineering in 1972. Taught courses in Astronautical Propulsion\, Motor Vehicle Mechanics\, Design of Aircraft Engines and Space robotics at Politecnico di Torino. Full Professor in Machine Design\, head of the Department of Mechanics from 1989 to 1995\, now is Professor Emeritus\, member of the Academy of Sciences of Torino and of the International Academy of Astronautics\, where since 2012 heads the Study Group on Human Mars Exploration. Member of the Advisory Board of the Starshot Project. Author of more than 400 scientific papers\, 5 patents and 40 textbooks\, research monographies and popular science books. Author of 6 science fiction novels\, published in Italian and English. \n\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/OfSlkeDqFBw\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/2060476334511167/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #18: "The Little Rocket that Could - The Rise of the NewSpace Movement” by Samuel Coniglio
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #18 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4) \nAbstract\nWe are on the edge of a new golden age of space travel. Not the golden age of government space agencies\, but an age of diversification: where private rocket companies offer their services to any person\, company\, or government to take a ride to Low Earth Orbit and beyond. How did we get here? How come it took nearly 60 years from the first landing on the Moon to finally have a variety of space services that nearly anyone with the money could participate in? “The Little Rocket that Could” honors the pioneers of the “NewSpace” Movement: engineers and entrepreneurs who took chances to build rockets and spacecraft as alternatives to NASA’s Delta\, Atlas\, Titan\, Saturn V and the Space Shuttle. It will cover the stories of people like Gary Hudson\, a serial space entrepreneur and engineer\, who since the 1980’s battled bureaucrats\, the media\, and lack of investors to build reusable rockets. Pioneering companies like Space Services Incorporated of America and their Conestoga 1 rocket helped streamline the launch approval process from dozens of US Government bureaucracies to just one. Then there was the saga of the Delta Clipper Experimental\, the world’s first reusable rocket\, which flew 12 times\, and each time nearly ran out of funding. These stories and more are not known to modern audiences\, who are blinded by the successes of the Billionaire-owned space companies. This new book will compare the pioneers with the latest companies and what the industry has learned. \nA short bio\nSamuel Coniglio is a book author\, space futurist\, technical writer\, photographer\, inventor\, and private space industry advocate. He is a board member and former Vice-President of the Space Tourism Society. In the 1990’s\, Samuel worked for McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) on the Space Shuttle\, International Space Station\, and the historic Delta Clipper Experimental (DC-X) reusable rocket program. In 2004\, he helped run logistics for the XPRIZE Team film crew during the SpaceShipOne flights. He is involved with the National Space Society\, Space Frontier Foundation\, and Yuri’s Night. Samuel’s first book\, “Creature Comforts in Space\,” is a guide for designers to create an enjoyable and sustainable off-world lifestyle for humans onboard the next generation space stations. His second book\, “The Little Rocket that Could\,” honors the pioneers of the “NewSpace” Movement who paved the way for the commercial space industry. \n\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/BW1N2Wfzjg4\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1495972255422746/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #17: "Building and living in space" - with Isaac Arthur
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\nThis is the 17th preliminary webinar of the IV SRI World Congress. We\, at Space Renaissance\, are very interested to understanding more on a few concepts illustrated by Isaac Arthur in his online lectures program: \n\nOrbital Foundries & Zero G Manufacturing\, Building in Space (   • Orbital Foundries & Zero G Manufacturing -…  )\, \nSpace Habitat Clusters & Conglomerations (   • Space Habitat Clusters & Conglomerations  ). \n\nAll of these topics are of great actuality\, in the incoming scenario of the cislunar space economy and the kick-off of civilian space development\, a key focus for our IV SRI World Congress. Some of our experts\, plus Adriano V. Autino\, will pose questions to Isaac\, in a broad conversation-interview style. Participants to the panel include: \n\nAlberto Cavallo\, co-chair of the Space Tech & Industry Commitee (expert in Energy and scholar of space transportation and propulsion) \nWerner Grandl\, chair of the Space Tech & Industry Commitee (expert of architecture and civil enginneering) \nJerry Stone\, chair of the Space Habitats Committee (father of the Island Zero project) \nAdriano V. Autino\, SRI\, CEO & Founder \n\nAn essential bio\nIsaac Arthur — President\, National Space Society — is the creator of the wildly successful “Science & Futurism with Isaac Arthur\,” an award-winning weekly science education and entertainment show with over 700\,000 subscribers and over 400 episodes on YouTube. The show covers a wide range of futuristic concepts including space technology\, development\, and exploration\, and focuses on how humanity or other hypothetical advanced civilizations may behave logistically\, technologically\, and socially\, both in the near and distant future\, under the understood laws of science. Past episodes have examined communities in space\, planetary terraforming\, interstellar exploration\, space megastructure engineering\, cybernetics\, transhumanism\, artificial intelligence\, the Fermi Paradox\, the possible existence of alien civilizations\, post-scarcity economies\, and much more. Arthur is also a regular guest on a variety of news and entertainment shows ranging from online productions to national radio shows\, and he consults on science fiction books and video games. Arthur attended Kent State University majoring in physics and graduating top of his class at age 20\, and served in the United States Army during the Iraq war. When not working on his show\, Arthur serves as the chair of the Ashtabula\, Ohio Board of Elections under the Ohio Secretary of State. Isaac’s wife\, Sarah Fowler Arthur\, was elected to the House of Representatives for Ohio in 2020\, and previously was elected to the State Board of Education from 2013-2020. They and their three children live on their farm in Plymouth\, Ohio. \nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/vEQ-J-EX5Vo \nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1472611417727735/

SUMMARY:Artemis II kisses the Moon! - Space Renaissance with Artemis II on lunar farside!
DESCRIPTION:Panelists: Prof. Bernard Foing (SRI president\, CEO LUNEX EuroMoonMars ILEWG COSPAR9)\, Adriano V. Autino (SRI Founder\, CEO\, and VP)\, and Sabine Heinz (SRI webinar moderator)\, together with SRI Board members and space experts. \nArtemis II was launched on 1 April 2026 aboard the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket with 4 astronauts in the Orion capsule targeted by the ESA service module towards the Moon and safely back. It builds on the partial success of the uncrewed Artemis I in 2022 and is demonstrating a broad range of capabilities needed on deep space missions. On 6 April\, the Orion capsule will be closest to the Moon (at around 7400 km). \nSRI will celebrate this special moment for humanity. We’ll have SRI Board Members and experts giving information and comments about Artemis and future lunar exploration and\, hopefully\, settlement programs. \nAstronauts will see part of the Moon’s far side and poles not seen by humans before (even though we had global views of the Moon from robotic probes since SMART-1 \, Chang’E 1-2\, Chandrayaan 1-2\, LRO\, and other missions). \nSpace Renaissance International (SRI) actively supports the NASA-led Artemis program\, advocating for it as a critical step toward human civilization becoming multi-planetary. As a UN COPUOS observer\, SRI emphasizes international cooperation and has proposed that Artemis and ILRS coalitions plant a UN flag on the Moon to symbolize peace and shared heritage. \nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/Knx9Kghkarc \nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/973055088618818/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #16: "Gallery Space: Art and spaceflight" with Barbara Brownie
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #16 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4) \nAbstract\nThe expansion of the commercial spaceflight sector and democratization of space is creating new opportunities for artists to engage directly with the environment of space. For a new generation of space artists\, space presents new physical and philosophic questions. This webinar explores how space artists are redefining their practice through direct engagement with space\, using case-studies of work that has been deployed on board the ISS\, sub-orbital flights\, and zeroG flights. Through these\, the webinar will explore how artists are revising traditional art methods and materials through interactions with microgravity; the relationships between artists\, astronauts and audiences; and the disciplinary and hierarchy challenges faced by artists operating in the space sector. \nA short bio\nDr Barbara Brownie is an Associate Dean (Education) at the Royal College of Art. Barbara’s research explores space as a site for art and design\, with a particular focus on effects of weightlessness. Her book\, Spacewear: Weightlessness and the Final Frontier of Fashion (Bloomsbury\, 2019)\, considers the challenges and opportunities that the commercial space age presents to fashion designers\, and how weightlessness necessitates new approaches to clothing and the dressed body. Her most recent book\, Art in Orbit (Bloomsbury 2025)\, explores the relationship between the arts and space sectors\, and the spaceworks that demonstrate art’s value in space exploration. In 2026 and 2027 she will be sending writing and artworks to space on three separate flights: one sub-orbital\, one orbital\, and one lunar. She co-leads the _Space research group at the RCA\, a group of artists and researchers operating at the intersection of art and aerospace. \n\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/ui08e2xv0Os\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1691225568679467/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #15: "Why Space? The Purpose of People" with Rick Tumlinson
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #15 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4) \nAbstract\nWe are at a unique moment in the history of humanity—and of life itself. Within the next decade\, the railroad to space will open\, and human society will begin expanding into the Solar System. At last\, the children of humanity can be given Permission to Dream: not of a civilization at its limits\, and a MotherWorld strained by our own pillaging\, but of a future greater—more grand and more exciting—than any before. While the established rationales for space remain largely valid\, it is essential that those of us leading this movement adopt a shared set of driving ideas and Principles. Without them\, it will be far too easy to slip into the ages-old patterns that have left us perhaps materially wealthy\, but spiritually empty. If we simply repeat the mistakes of the past on the wider canvas of the Universe\, then what have we achieved? The Principles of Purpose offer guiding lights by which we can steer into a new tomorrow—one that is bold and inspiring\, empowering\, and open to all. \nA short bio\nRick Tumlinson is the co-founder of several space companies and non-profits including Deep Space Industries\, Orbital Outfitters\, the New Worlds Institute\, and the Space Frontier Foundation. In 2004\, Space News magazine listed Tumlinson as one of the 100 most influential people in the space industry\, stating. Tumlinson produced a series of animated videos used to gain funding for the Air Force’s DC-X rocket project\, the International Space University\, the X-33 rocket program\, the Air Force’s Space Command and created the first ever paid political announcement for space\, which was featured on NPR’s All Things Considered. Tumlinson worked for scientist Gerard K. O’Neill at the Space Studies Institute and was involved in starting the Lunar Prospector project which discovered hints of water on the Moon. Over the years he has been a witness in six congressional hearings on the future of NASA\, the US space program and space tourism. In early 2004\, Tumlinson testified before Senator John McCain and the Senate Space and Technology Committee on the Moon\, Mars and Beyond program. \n\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/-4R0iESFZI4\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/889489203881915/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #13: "Current trends in advancing technologies in space art and impacts on space art culture"
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #13 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4) \nAbstract\nCheryl Gallagher – Minister of Culture in Asgardia\, the Space Nation \nAdvancements in digital technologies and contemporary creative tools\, including AI-assisted art production\, have significantly influenced discourse within the space sector and contributed to innovation in space-related fields. These developments have also sparked philosophical and epistemological dialogue among space artists\, particularly across generations\, as questions of authorship\, authenticity\, and technological integration reshape creative practice. Reflecting on these shifts encourages informed discussion\, expands awareness of evolving methodologies\, and honors the foundational contributions of earlier space art pioneers. Artistic representations of space concepts—whether technical visualizations or interpretations of established and speculative theories—have long played a role in expanding the conceptual boundaries of space science and exploration. By challenging prevailing assumptions and reimagining humanity’s trajectory beyond Earth\, space art helps shape both cultural imagination and scientific ambition. In this way\, artistic practice remains an essential component of the broader space renaissance\, contributing to the cultural\, intellectual\, and civilizational foundations of humanity’s future in space. \nA short bio\nCheryl Gallagher is a multifaceted artist and musician who has made significant and unique contributions to the fields of ambient electronic music and visual arts since her retirement from a long career in health science. Her work is characterized by its spiritual depth and transcendental qualities\, has earned her respect and recognition within the arts and ambient music communities. She is also known as a strong advocate in the aerospace community for positive human cultural evolution through her published articles\, produced videos and project support for various organizations and initiatives contributing to advanced human physical and cultural development in space. She is a valued contributor and serves in several roles among the space initiatives she advocates\, such as Minister of Culture in Asgardia\, the Space Renaissance community and in several space reproduction\, scientific space communities and space advocacy groups over the years. \n\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/7SprDtI3lA0\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1920563725497179/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #12: "Data Centers in Space: an update"
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #12 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4)\nAbstract\nBy Alberto Cavallo – December 2\, 2025  \nA central thesis which Space Renaissance International has enounced since the beginning is the opportunity of moving industrial and business activities to space: not “old space” activities like communications\, Earth observation\, and positioning services\, but all industries that have a significant impact on Earth’s environment and can practically be transferred to space\, specifically in the cislunar environment. There are several motivations to do that: 1. Reducing land occupation 2. Avoiding emissions of chemicals as well as waste heat on Earth\, which affects the use of water\, which is a precious resource 3. Reducing the load on energy systems\, which in turn affects 1 and 2 4. Ensuring the possibility of unlimited scale-up\, when space resources start to be used There is no doubt about the advantages\, but in order to reach an industrial development off-Earth\, several conditions must be met: 1. The activity must be feasible in space 2. The product or the service must be easy to deliver on Earth\, because initially\, the market will be there 3. The first activities should not require big technical advancements to be performed in space\, allowing a reasonably quick deployment 4. Cost must be competitive Data centers are good candidates for the role of the first land-based activity that can be moved to space. The paper deals with the advantages and requirements connected to transferring data processing into space\, showing how this operation can reach the goals and meet the conditions listed above. The main downside is\, of course\, cost\, but the amazing progress being achieved in the reduction of launch cost can be decisive and can enable the initiatives that are\, in fact\, already starting\, as described in the final section. Recently (November 2025)\, the Blue Origin New Glenn heavy launcher became fully operational with a flawless second launch\, while SpaceX Starship has overcome some failures\, succeeding in two consecutive test launches and is underway to reach operability\, possibly within 2026. These launchers can reduce the cost to orbit enough to make space-based data processing competitive with land installations. This paper is an update of the one presented at IAC-2025 in Sidney\, with the title: ”3xE: Energy\, Economy\, Environment. A space perspective case: Big Data Farms in Space.” \nA short bio\nAlberto Cavallo is an Electrical Engineer\, graduated from the Politecnico di Torino in 1985. He began his activity with designing electric systems in Fiat Engineering\, the engineering and construction company of the FIAT Group\, moving soon to control and automation systems in the same company. He was involved in all business areas of the company\, which included revamping and new projects of car factories for the FIAT Group as well as large infrastructures\, power\, and cogeneration plants for external clients. Among the projects of that time were the new FIAT factories in Melfi and Pratola Serra\, the high-speed railways Torino-Milano and Bologna-Firenze\, the district heating system of Torino Sud\, combined cycle power plants for several hundred megawatts in Italy and in Brazil. Since Fiat Engineering was transferred from the FIAT Group to a new EPC group and then merged with a large EPC company in Milan\, he was involved in large oil and gas and petrochemical projects all over the world until his retirement in 2024. Besides his professional activity\, he has always taken part in several cultural activities. He was a member of the Association of Alumni of the Liceo Classico Vittorio Alfieri of Turin\, active in promoting humanistic culture as well as its connection to the technical and scientific area. He manages his own website www.eurinome.it (in Italian only) about philosophy\, science\, and politics/geopolitics. Due to this\, he got in contact with Adriano Autino and his TDF\, then became one of the founding members of Space Renaissance International. Besides several papers in his professional area\, he has written several articles for his own site\, for TDF and SRI\, coauthoring the book “Three Theses for the Space Renaissance” with Adriano Autino and Patrick Q. Collins. He is currently a member of the Board of SRI.\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/QuNDRuhdeMo\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/25714492858148496/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #11: "Space Romanticism - by Dr. Marie-Luise Heuser"
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #11 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4)\nAbstract\nBy Dr. Marie-Luise Heuser – January 17\, 2025 – © Copyright\, Dr. Marie-Luise Heuser\, 2026\, All Rights Reserved – m.l.heuser@gmx.net\nRomanticism envisioned the human being as oriented beyond the Earth—toward the infinite expanse of the cosmos. From the late eighteenth century onward\, this longing for the heavens emerged not only in poetry\, painting\, and music\, but also in philosophy and science\, which increasingly imagined the universe as boundless and dynamic. Central to Romantic thought was a redefinition of space: no longer merely a mechanistically conceived container space for things and their movements\, but a dynamic ontological entity that holds the universe together and enables the emergence of existence. For Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling\, space was an “existing possibility” and a realm of freedom\, echoing the Romantic conviction that human beings belong not to a single place\, but to the whole. Space Romanticism brings together works by Caspar David Friedrich\, Novalis\, and other European artists to explore how Romantic art reflects and shapes this expanded vision of space. \nA short bio\nMarie-Luise Heuser studied philosophy\, history\, physics and mathematics at Heinrich-Heine-University in Düsseldorf. She received her doctorate with a dissertation on Schelling’s philosophy of nature and the physical theories of self-organization. She has been involved in research and teaching at various universities in Germany. From 2002 to 2015\, she was a lecturer at the Institute of Philosophy at the Technical University of Braunschweig\, where she initiated and organized the transdisciplinary cooperation “Culture and Space Travel” (with weekly lecture series at the “House of Science”\, art exhibitions at the University of Fine Arts\, and scientific conferences). Since 2015\, she has been chair of the Department of Culture and Spaceflight at the Institute of Space Systems at the Technical University of Braunschweig (IRAS). Since 2020 she is chair of the Expert Committee for Spaceflight and Culture at the German Aerospace Society (DGLR)\, and since 2022 head of the Space Philosophy Laboratory at Space Renaissance International (SRI). She is also a scientific member of the University of Düsseldorf. Her main focus is on the classical philosophy of space travel from antiquity to modern times\, a field of research and teaching she founded. The term Transterrestrialism®\, which she coined and registered as a word mark\, is the name of a new discipline in the cultural sciences and humanities that deals with the philosophical prerequisites and cultural history of space travel\, as well as with fundamental paradigm shifts in the image of humanity\, in modes of perception and categories of thought\, and with the future possibilities of new forms of living and interaction in space. SUMMARY:Utilization of EMS and Kinetic Fabrics in Variable Gravity Adaptive and Rehabilitative Medicine Applications
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #10 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4) \nAbstract\nTitle: Utilization of EMS and Kinetic Fabrics in Variable Gravity Adaptive and Rehabilitative Medicine Applications •Gary Pearce Barnhard\, BS Engin – Xtraordinary Innovative Space Partnerships\, Inc. (XISP-Inc)\, gary.barnhard@xisp-inc.com Combining whole-body Electro-Muscular Stimulation (EMS) with kinetic fabrics technology for daily wear and exercise before\, during\, and after spaceflight can have a transformative impact on human health and performance. The adaptive use of these technologies to address individual needs in microgravity\, reduced gravity\, and Earth-normal gravity environments requires further investigation. This research focuses on understanding how a combination of EMS suits\, kinetic fabric\, and the necessary instrumentation (hardware & software) can be orchestrated to achieve specific outcomes. The potential outcomes from this mission could significantly improve human health and performance in microgravity and variable gravity environments over extended durations\, and assist in the readaptation (e.g.\, astronauts) and rehabilitation (e.g.\, injury recovery\, neuropathy-challenged cancer survivors\, strength training\, body conditioning) of humans living in Earth-normal gravity. \nA short bio\nGary Pearce Barnhard – a self-described synergistic technological philanthropist\, entrepreneur\, and serial venture capitalist now serving as the President & CEO of Xtraordinary Innovative Space Partnerships\, Inc. SUMMARY:SRIC4 #09: "Androids and Astronauts: The Key to Advancing Civilization Off-World"
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #09 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4)\nAbstract\nBy Frank White – November 10\, 2025 – © Copyright\, Frank White\, 2025\, All Rights Reserved \nThis webinar will examine the moral and ethical implications of using AI-enabled robots (androids) to assist in advancing human civilization beyond Earth. It seems unlikely that the dream of billions of people living and working in the solar ecosystem can be realized without the assistance of machines more suitable for survival in outer space than we ourselves are. This will be difficult and dangerous work\, so is it acceptable for humans to use our creations to avoid the hazards posed by a hostile environment to ourselves? If they are “just machines\,” perhaps there is no problem\, but what if they are something more? What if they are sentient\, or self-aware\, or conscious? Or might become so? Then\, we might be making a grave mistake that will haunt us and our descendants. In this session\, we will consider the value of “mutuality\,” an approach that envisions humans and intelligent robots working together to create a positive future\, on Earth and beyondwhile paying attention to the welfare of both. \nA short bio\nFrank White is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College\, a member of Phi Beta Kappa\, and a Rhodes Scholar. He earned an M.Phil. in Politics from Oxford University. Frank’s book\, The Overview Effect: Space Exploration and Human Evolution\, is considered by many to be a seminal work in the field of space studies. He has authored or co-authored additional books on a wide range of topics\, including SETI\, AI\, and climate change. Frank is also co-executive editor of Sentient Media\, LLC\, President and Board Chair of the Human Space Program\, and a Professor at Kepler Space University.\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/live/3H_1XRspAno\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1499824564603229/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #08: "Space Renaissance at the UN\, a personal journey\, 2000 – 2025\, with Amalie Sinclair"
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #08 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4)\nAbstract\nThis webinar is intended to provide both a short description of the personal journey of the presenter and a comprehensive overview of the official SRI UN profile to date. Moving from introduction to space development narratives at the millennium\, to early advisement around the 3rd UNISPACE Conference in 2014\, through to the establishment of SRI observer status at COPUOS in 2023\, and the recent initiative for the 18thSDG “Space for All”. The complexities of the 18thSDG can be readily defined within an inclusive humanistic rationale\, however these issues and topics will also be defined at political levels. Taking into consideration current technological\, economic\, and societal trends\, SRI seeks to define the objectives of the 18thSDG through reliance on universal values\, ethics\, and an expedient process of international interchange and engagement. The eventual parameters of the 18thSDG may be extensive\, involving many insights and designated resources for equitable and productive outer space usage\, and the progressions of the civilian space industry. It is hoped that this brief webinar will serve to inform and to generate input and participation for the SRI 18thSDG initiative. \nA short bio of Amalie Sinclair\nI was born in London in 1951\, my parents were highly progressive\, and my childhood was marked by a process of self-education and exposure to culture and humanistic values. My mother the painter Dora Holzhandler\, introduced me to the concepts of Buddhist philosophy\, and I studied with the extant Tibetan schools since the age of 16. Together with my husband\, a software engineer\, my family relocated to California\, USA in 1984. I have been resident in the Bay Area during this intervening period\, giving me the opportunity to view at close hand the advent of the remarkable technologies of societal and global interconnectivity. In 2000\, I wrote and produced a millennial performance which included over fifty dancers and musicians from several nations. In 2004\, I prepared a forum\, “Space for Progress” for congressional members in Washington DC. Over the past 25 years\, I have been actively engaged in the development of equitable space policy\, presenting several outlines at the lunar science communities. I joined the exemplary SRI engagement in 2016. My interest lies in the UN-based narratives for outer space development and settlement\, a work that has profound implications for the future of humanity. In 2025\, I took up residence in London again\, holding both US and UK citizenship. I hope to be able to continue to participate in the preparation and establishment of the SRI 18thSDG initiative.\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/u3aflb4gIMw\nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/850120617995500/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #07: "Space Based Solar Power and the New Paradigm of the Space Industry"
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #07 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4)\nAbstract\nThe idea of generating solar energy in space and beaming it down to Earth using lasers or microwaves is not new. Isaac Asimov envisioned a large space-based solar power satellite transmitting energy to Earth in his 1941 short story Reason. Later\, in 1968\, Peter Glaser described the SBSP concept in greater detail and obtained a patent for it. The concept was further studied by ERDA\, but by the early 1980s the project was discontinued. During the 1980s and 1990s\, however\, new technologies emerged\, and several global efforts—particularly in Japan—advanced the technology readiness level of wireless power transmission. In the early 2000s\, a study by the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) concluded that the SBSP concept is technically feasible. This year\, new studies have identified five concepts with strong potential for commercial viability\, and multiple startups worldwide have successfully raised funding to pursue them. In recent years\, we have witnessed a new paradigm in the space industry. The sharp reduction in launch costs\, the emergence of highly modular SBSP architectures\, and the growing global demand for clean energy have positioned SBSP as a promising emerging space market. This lecture provides a concise historical overview and explains the reference SBSP concept evaluated in the 1980s. It then highlights modern advancements and shows how new designs overcome the challenges faced by earlier concepts. A brief review of the most commercially viable SBSP architectures is also included. \nA short bio\nGhanim Alotaibi is a PhD candidate at the University of Strathclyde. His research project is thermal management for an advanced Solar Power Satellite (SPS) concept with the aim of advancing the Technology Readiness Level (TRL). As a mechanical engineer graduated from Kuwait University\, Ghanim started his career as a petroleum engineer at Kuwait Oil Company. After obtaining a degree in astronomy and completed his master’s in solar energy (photovoltaics) from Freiburg University\, he proposed the first satellite for Kuwait University. The satellite project was funded and it was successfully launched in January 2023. Ghanim was an active member in many space non-profit organizations. In the past\, Ghanim was the Middle East Regional Coordinator of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC). Currently\, he is the project manager for the Moon Village – Participation of Emerging Space Countries (MV-PESC). The aim of the project is to bring developing countries to perform moon projects. In addition\, Ghanim is a board member at the Space Renaissance Initiative (SRI) and co – chairing the towards the young generation committee. Ghanim’s exposure to space research and the wider space community motivated him to initiate and lead countless activities to bring concepts of advancing human civilization into space to developing countries. For this reason\, he founded Advance Space Civilization Initiative (ASCI) where he offers courses about the topic for the general audience focusing on developing countries.\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/6TGfcN1Xawo \nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1471951040553020/

SUMMARY:Terraforming Mars (Robots Will Pave the Way to Mars) - with Anthony Fucilla
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\nThe terraforming process entails thickening the Martian atmosphere and allowing water to exist on the surface in liquid form. Greater sunlight absorption is the key. Heating the planet via orbital mirrors will reduce the planet’s albedo and in turn release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere creating a green-house effect. Over time\, a human friendly atmosphere will be produced. Also\, pumping out huge amounts of greenhouse gases\, such as ammonia and methane will help thicken the Martian atmosphere over time. Furthermore\, the importation and introduction of algae is another way; algae breaks down carbon dioxide which in turn produces oxygen. It will help lower Mars’s albedo further by trapping more of the Sun’s heat rather than reflecting it back into space… \nA short bio\nAnthony Fucilla was born in London England in 1975. He is a philosopher\, lecturer and Science-Fiction author\, author of Quantum Chronicles in the Eleventh Dimension\, Quantum Chronicles 2\, Imperial Planet\, Silent Earth\, The Mars Time-Project\, Androids and the Gods\, Beyond Earth’s Horizon\, The Golden Moons of Jupiter\, Under a Martian Sky and Proxima Centauri b The Alien Mind. SUMMARY:International Lunar program sustainability: ISS lessons learned as applied for Lunar exploration. With Dmitry Zarubin
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\nThe International space station program is a humanity’s achievement from many different perspectives. 15 nations are united together to design\, construct and operate the in-orbit technical and scientific facility with permanent human presence for 25 years (38 years taking into account previous orbital station – MIR). Now we’re at the stage when we’re aiming to keep our LEO capabilities and at the same time to make a next step – to establish peaceful research and exploration of the Moon and Cis-Lunar space. The subject of the lecture is to highlight the perspectives of Lunar exploration as an international endeavor and to show how technical and programmatic principles of the ISS program will help to provide necessary sustainability of the International Lunar program. \nA short bio\nDmitry Zarubin\, Engineering Fellow Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Key responsibilities are Systems Engineering and Project Management in Lunar Exploration. Previously Dmitry was a part of the ISS Roscosmos and RSC Energia managment team\, participant and a co-chair of several ISS and Lunar Gateway technical teams. Dmitry is a member of the IAF Space Exploration and Human Space Flight Committees. Founding member of the IDSEA (International Deep Space Exploration Association\, China). An expert for COPUOS Action Team on Lunar Activities Consultation (ATLAC). \nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/live/rsmNLoRB8jo \nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1329883471827900/

SUMMARY:SRIC4 #04: "The Civilization Survival Scale and Space Settlement"
DESCRIPTION:This is the preliminary webinar #04 of the IV SRI World Congress (SRIC4)\nAbstract\nThe Civilization Survival Scale is in provides a powerful argument based in evolutionary biology for human expansion into space. It recognizes that the survival of a civilization\, as the survival of a species\, is dependent on its ability to adapt highly diverse and changing habits. Unlike the very popular Kardashev Scale\, which is built around ever greater energy consumption\, the Civilization Survival Scale is based firmly on the principles of evolutionary biology. It recognizes that the survival of human civilization lies in replacing the brute force approach of the Kardashev Scale with a scientific approach  based on acquiring the technology and knowledge to adapt to diverse habitats. The technology we develop to build communities in diverse habitats throughout the Solar System will expand our ability to thrive in diverse environments here on Earth. Rather than abandoning the Earth\, the Civilization Survival Scale demonstrates how humanity expanding into the Solar System and beyond enhances the survivability and quality of life for humans on Earth. The advanced food production systems required to sustain communities in space will enable farming on Earth to become more resilient to environmental disruptions while expanding it to new environments. Similarly\, recycling technology developed by communities in space will be used to reduce the environmental impact of communities on Earth. The Civilization Survival Scale provides a solid scientific foundation for justifying our need to evolve into a spacefaring society. It illustrates that the best hope of humanity surviving into the future is to become a Level 2 Civilization on the Civilization Survival Scale by developing the technology to multiple habitats in our solar system. \nA short bio\nThomas L. Matula\, Ph.D. is a Professor of Business Administration at Sul Ross State University in Texas and holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from New Mexico State University. Sul Ross State University is now offering an MBA in Space Commerce. This is an excerpt from a book in progress: Astrosettlement: An Evolutionary Strategy for Space Settlement.\nFollow the Livestream on the Space Renaissance YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/live/pxxVRMesABw \nand click ‘going’ on the Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/3727604044200789
