Not going back, but going forward to the Moon

2 May 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm UTC

Prof. Johann-Dietrich Wörner — former Director Generale of European Space Agency, will give a lecture on his vision for civilian space development. Some of the topics he will discuss:

  • 100% reusable launch vehicles — reducing cost to orbit — are the 1st milestone in the agenda of Civilian Space Development. Will them be really available soon?
  • What will be the 2nd key milestone on the road of space industrialization? Producing fuel in space, from lunar and asteroid resources?
  • What are the main Space Agencies doing to support such a road-map?
  • Some relevant issues should be overcome, to begin living and working in space: protection from cosmic radiations, artificial gravity, green environment in the habitats… are such issues tackled enough?
  • Will the recover and repurpose of space debris be the first profitable manned business activity in orbit?
  • How will Europe win a position of leadership in such a virtuous competition?

After his lecture, Dr. Wörner will be happy to respond questions by the audience.
