The terraforming process entails thickening the Martian atmosphere and allowing water to exist on the surface in liquid form. Greater sunlight absorption is the key. Heating the planet via orbital mirrors will reduce the planet’s albedo and in turn release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere creating a green-house effect. Over time, a human friendly atmosphere will be produced. Also, pumping out huge amounts of greenhouse gases, such as ammonia and methane will help thicken the Martian atmosphere over time. Furthermore, the importation and introduction of algae is another way; algae breaks down carbon dioxide which in turn produces oxygen. It will help lower Mars’s albedo further by trapping more of the Sun’s heat rather than reflecting it back into space…
