Prof. Luigina Feretti graduated in Physics at the University of Bologna and carried out research activity at the Istituto di Radioastronomia (IRA) of the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF), where she acted as a Director from 2007 to 2015. The field of research is extragalactic radio astronomy, in particular the study of radio sources in clusters of galaxies, and the study of large-scale cosmological magnetic fields. She is the author of about 350 original papers in international scientific journals, that have about 12,000 citations. She has organized several international conferences and participates in committees for research funding and the allocation of observing time at international instruments. She has been president of the Board for the construction of the Sardinia Radio Telescope (SRT) near Cagliari (Italy) and of the Management Board of the Joint Institute for VLBI in Europe. She is involved in science working groups of the new generation Radio Telescope Square Kilometer Array (SKA), which is being realized in South Africa and Australia. She is a scientific Editor of the international journal “The Astronomy and Astrophysics Review” and is a member of the International Astronomical Union. Luigina is also a member of the Space Renaissance Italia Board of Directors.
