This presentation will delve into the various international efforts aimed at returning to the Moon, highlighting the collaborative and competitive dynamics shaping this new era of space exploration. We will explore the Artemis Accords, China’s International Lunar Research Station, and Romania’s UN proposal for a consultative mechanism for lunar activities. Additionally, we will discuss the proposal for an 18th Sustainable Development Goal, focusing on space sustainability, and its potential impact on lunar development.
Dr. Fredrick A. Jenet is a renowned astrophysicist and space technologist recently dedicated to advancing lunar exploration and development. As the founder and executive director of Expanding Frontiers, he has driven innovations in space and energy technologies. Currently, as the Chief Technology Officer of Lunar Station, he developed critical lunar surface visualization and radiation analysis systems. He previously directed the Center for Advanced Radio Astronomy at UTRGV, creating pioneering programs and collaborating with NASA and SpaceX. A board member of the National Space Society, Dr. Jenet leads its delegation to the UN’s Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, promoting international cooperation in sustainable lunar activities.
